Rafting on the American River

July 2nd, we decided to take a run down the American River. Here we are ready to head out. Now, this is typically a slow run, but the water was moving fast and was much higher than normal for this time of year.
The girls decided this was the house they wanted on the water. Loved the patio and view of the river.
Our family fun day.
Nate and I hanging out on the river.
Nate helping me row, or at least trying to keep the oar from falling into the water. I think Shayne was looking at fish more than rowing.
The girls taking doing a little self photo op.
Kids ready for a bite to eat, it's been five minutes, time for a new snack.
Lilia trying to turn Shayne's frown upside down, maybe if he was the one holding the beer.
Nate and Baba enjoying feeding the ducks.

Lilia and Chloe, before Chloe got bored.
Oh captain, my captain. With Lilia screaming row row row every two minutes, we made it down the river in under 2 hours. We finished ahead of all the other rafters that took off within an hour of us.
Nate trying on his life vest. Good thing he didn't complain about wearing it. Water was cold!!!

Shayne was being Mr. Grumpy Gills, so I decide to dip his head in the water to cool his temper. He also got an opportunity to work on his crunches to keep more of his head out of the water.
