Robert's Wedding

The view from Ragged Point.
Robert & Jeneka 7/17/10

Rob & Robert going over the wedding details, important stuff like the appropriate mix of Crown to Coke.

Robert with the post ceremony smile.
His new ring displayed prominently and proudly.
The photographer was trying to get the girls to kiss Nate, but they would have nothing to do with it.
Robert, Jeneka and the wedding party posing for photos.
The kiss
The wedding party, all dressed up and ready to get the reception started.
Kelly and her new man Drew.
Nene and his girl Claudia.
Robert, Aggie, Rich and Maria posing for photos.
Notice my short and Maria's dress match?  It's a great view and a splendid backdrop for the wedding.  The sun actually came out for the ceremony, then the fog returned as it had for the whole weekend.
Jeneka's bridemaids and flower girls.
The ceremony.
Nate got to carry the pillow, but not the rings after he nearly lost them while waiting to walk down the aisle.
As I said, you won't see any rings on that pillow.Of course as he was walking down the aisle, he was "shooting" people in the audience with his finger gun.
The Cottle's, again.  As if we haven't seen enough of them this year.  They do clean up nice.
Maria and Tiffany.
The boys posing for some shots.
Nate looking sharp in a tux.

The removal of the garter.
The cutting of the cake.
The post reception party, with all the Scotch gone, we've moved on to Cognac.
What's Cottle doing there in the background?

Plane to LA

Sent from MiPhoneNate pretending to sleep on plane. On our way to Catalina. Of course we arrived safe but my bag on southwest did not.

Nate in the Box

Sent from MiPhoneAs most of you know Nate has never eaten at Jack in the Box, but today I swung by my work with him to say goodbye to some people and Rich McBride had this leftover from Halloween.

Rehersal Dinner

July 16th, Maria and I at Ragged Point, the future site of Robert and Jeneka's wedding.
I'm having trouble getting the pictures moved around in the order I want, so I apologize for these being out of sequence and seemingly random.

The rehearsal came complete with a set of scotch. Various ages and regions made for some great taste testing.  Although we were pretty well drunk by the time we finished these bottles, the wine and other booze that were brought.

Nate was scheduled to participate in the wedding, he was the ring bearer.  Here is his practice for the post ceremony walk with the flower girl.
Nene and Tony, the best man and a groomsman having a great time during the rehersal.
Nate found a spot on the pedestal during the "practice" ceremony.  Rich has joined his fellow Groomsman in line.
More beer drinking fun.
Shayne did his best to convey every bit of angst a teenager is supposed to have.  Wearing his hoodie, listening to the ipod and trying his best to keep a scowl on his face while he was trying to not have a good time.  He failed.
Here's Claudia walking with Dani.  She loved the beach weather and wanted to be right in with all the action.
Lilia and I exploring the front facing camera on my Iphone.
Mike seen here with a photo of Robert.
The first of the "Reservoir dogs" photos

Robert and Aggie doing the practice walk.

Maria took this in a series of pictures.  The guys were all walking back toward where the picnic was setup, all carrying our red plastic cups.  It reminded Maria of the scene from Reservoir dogs.

Hearst Castle

Here we are at Hearst castle.  We stopped by here on the way home Sunday after the wedding.  We had never been before and figured it might be a long time before we ever got a chance to make it back.
Maria and Nate at the steps leading up to the castle.
My amateur photographer getting in on the action.  He was taking a photo of his Baba.
Nate spotted this squirrel stealing this orange.  Funny to see him running around with this big orange hanging from his mouth,

Nate and I on the other side of this little pond.  You can't see it, but there's a little dog ramp leading out of the pond because Hearst's dogs would run into the pond and chase the frogs and fish and the staff got tired of going to get the dogs out.
Nate was getting tired and that usually means uppy time.  Maria snagged this shot with the dance hall in the background.
Part of the decoration in one of the rooms.
Rooms are preserved and decorated as they would have been in the 30's when people would actually be staying there.
Of course it seems everyone has seen this view of the pool.  The right side is the deep end, although harder to see up close because of the way it was designed.
One of the security guards had commented that if Nate had been wearing flip flops, he could dip his feet in the pool.  Too bad for Nate, good news for Baba.
Of course M enjoyed the cooling pool, until the tour guide yelled at her to get out of the pool.  There was apparently some confusion between the tour guide and the security guard.  It was worked out and the tour guide apologized.
Apparently in Sept, select people are still invited to come swim in the pool. We found out that Kelly's new boyfriend has access to this privilege.  The security guard mentioned that if he was invited, he could bring up to five guests.  Perhaps we'll get an invite back and get an opportunity to swim in this pool.
One of the many pieces of art around the castle.

That's one of the smaller guest houses in the background.

Another view of the guest house, or one of them anyway.
Nate and Baba with beautiful San Simeon bay in the background.
More artwork

Nate was getting bored and so he and I had to leave the tour and sit outside.  He proceeded to dance and play while trying to keep cool.

The highlight of the tour for Nate was getting his Hot Dog, before the 6 hour ride home.
