On To Alaska!

Tuesday, June 26,

Rhonda and Frank are amazing! They took all nine of us in for 3 nights before the cruise and they could not have been more gracious hosts! Thank you Frank and Rhonda!! I bet their home was so quiet after we left. It will be a nice week long breather for them before we come back and spend another couple of nights with them.

Our shuttle arrived at 11:30 am and we were off to the board the ship. The cruise is on Carnival cruise line. We picked it because we felt this was a great cruise for families.

Mike C, Nate, Mike, Lilia, Me, Martha, Sylvia, Shayne
No Chloe, since she did not want to wear the shirt and purposely hid it and she did not want to be in photos!
Ugh!! 12 year old girls!!
We all wore the T shirts, except for Chloe. I guess 12 year old girls might be a challenge to deal with. At one point she even refused to get in the group photo with us. Very disappointing. But the shirts turned out to be more fun that I had anticipated. Made finding each other on the ship really easy. We unloaded in our rooms and then met up to have lunch. Then off to do our own things. Mike, Nate and I went to go register Nate for Camp Carnival. Nate seemed interested but he really just wanted to hang out with Shayne and Chloe.  Mike C and Shayne went to the gym and the rest of the girls went to do sauna and spa. Then the ship started moving. Poor Shayne, he almost instantly got seasick. Even though I had heard that you don’t feel the motion on big ships, this ship was rockin’ and rollin’!!

Beautiful Sunset

Since it was Lilia’s actual birthday, we had made reservations for dinner at the steakhouse. This turned out to be really nice since we were practically the only one’s there. Great service and yummy food, and a beautiful sunset to boot! The biggest surprise was when Sylvia challenged Nate to sit still for 20 minutes. Nate does not sit still and I thought he would only last 2 minutes, but much to everyone’s surprise, he did it!! Wow, a first!! Interesting highlight during dinner.

20 minutes of not moving. I think Nate was in pain!

After dinner, Shayne and Chloe decided to go back to their cabin and Mike then took Nate to put him down. When traveling with Nate, you only get one Green at a time. Tonight they get me! Lilia wanted to keep going so the rest of us went to the dance club. We walked in and it was empty but since it was Lilia’s birthday we went ahead and went dancing. Turned out to be a lot of fun.  I hope Lilia had a great birthday!! I know I enjoyed celebrating her birthday!

Birthday celebration for Lilia!

Nate just loves getting in the photo!

Beautiful Lilia on her 50th birthday!!
