From that day on, we were running

As Forrest Gump once said, From that day on, I was running!  We have been doing lots of races and trail runs this year.  Working on getting Maria ready for her first half marathon in July.  Next up for us was the Knickerbocker run.
Took this photo on a practice run, trying to get an idea of what we're up against in the coming race.  Pig farm trail - very steep.  It's more narrow than "training hill" but winds up in the same place.
Love the forrest hill bridge in the background here.  The trail we're on started at the base of the bridge near the water and when we reach the top we're higher than the bridge.  ~1900 feet elevation gain in about a mile.
Post race, first 10K for both of us, first trail run for both of us.

Next race is the Folsom Lake trail run.  I'm running the half marathon and Maria and her friends are all doing another 10K.  Since I don't see a lot of people on the training runs, I'm bringing Lilo as my running partner.

Folsom lake has gained some water and very beautiful fields of purple flowers

Here's a sample of the trails we're running on.
This was actually taken over in Auburn, at Knickerbocker Canyon, but it's my typical view on the way out, but Lilo is usually trailing me on the way back.

The girls on race day for Folsom.

Post race celebration back at Casa Verde.

The day after the Folsom run, we had the run 4 Roseville.  a 5K run to raise money for the schools.  Not a tough race, unless you do it after a half marathon, with all the aches and pains of the previous day.
