| I've played golf at Southridge (when it was still open) and always admired the rock walls that had been built. Can't imagine having to build those. |

| The Buttes are often called the worlds smallest mountain range. It's actually a volcanic area, that never fully formed as a volcano. Lava seeped out and even launched a small blast. It just barely meets the criteria for a mountain range. Viewed from above you can tell there more in a circle than a typical range. |

| We stopped for lunch and had a great view of the Sacramento Valley. |

| Almost through with the hike. Kids taking a break and enjoying the great fall weather. |

| The hike was so popular they broke it up over two days and on Sunday, our day, they broke it into two different hikes. Here's our group at the end of the second hike. Behind us WAY off in the distance is Shasta. |

| Here the kids are learning about the three oak trees in the area. Blue Oaks, Valley Oaks and Silver Oaks. A group of the kids go to Blue Oaks Elementary, so it was neat to learn why the school is named after the local trees. |
